Game Theory

Whether you are an economist, mathematician, political scientist, psychologist or just someone who loves reading. I am sure you have heard of Game theory.
This covers everything about life, from evolution to international relations. As new year starts I have been thinking about this, and one of the best people in this field is Prof Axelrod. He did a paper before I was born with his friend Prof Hamilton. Axelrod ran an experiment and I want to share my take on the results

Professor Axelrod Game theory experiment. Came up with these qualities to survive and thrive. Here are the Best qualities in life.
1. Being nice
2. Being forgiving
3. Retaliatory
4. Being clear

Being Nice.
Means don’t be the asshole first. This doesn’t mean you are not capable of being one, it just means you never strike first. You treat kindness with kindness and nasty with same measure.
Even in international relations, you will notice some of the countries media propagates as bad countries like China or Russia and lately Israel, they never throw the first punch. But they know how to respond with same measure and worse. But wait Danny, isn’t that tit for tat? Funny story, one of the programmes in the experiment was called Tit for Tat to date it’s been the best winner in the experiment.

Being forgiving
This means don’t hold a grudge and if they apologize and change, you will move on like nothing happened. To be honest I struggle with this part. But it’s a very good strategy, whether it’s country to country, business or even friendship. Remember a good settlement is better than revenge.

Being Retaliatory.
When someone strikes, strike back. Do it with such a blow that they will never think of trying it again. This is one of my life’s philosophy. If someone comes at you, swing your best. Better to die fighting than live a slave. Seen that in international relations or businesses? Friendship?
Don’t be a push over.

Being Clear
Don’t try to be too clever and outsmart others. Be clear and others will play with you. I found this astounding mostly from a psychology and behaviour perspective. Make things clear at first. Re it relationship, sex, business and even in politics. Unless you want to win short term.

Now, does this mean that nasty people wouldn’t succeed? Of course not. They will but not as many times as the people with the four qualities. Life is unfair but life also has equilibrium to equalise things and they always do. To you and me they might look as if things never happen as they should but remember to Life, your days are just a dot in a very big book. With time things equalise. Be it climate change, economies, and even small things. Some call this Karma. I call it life. If you don’t pay a price, your children will or their children. Every value in life has a price and the price will always have to be paid.

Life will send abnormalities along the way. It’s you to know when to strike and when to be forgiving. If you can’t filter the noises. The four strategies might not always work. You have to be deliberate in thinking beyond normal. Skillfully take away what is noise and what is a threat. Remember life is not chess. It’s not a zero sum game. You will never do way better than everyone. You just come up ahead a bit. You will lose as well. That’s a skill you have to learn. Learn to lose and lose gracefully.

The main point in this story is simple. Cooperation works, you don’t have to be a Christian or religious. You can cooperate for your own personal interests. (The foundation of this mortality is actually religious based, but that’s not the debate today)
Life has shown that only organisms that cooperate actually thrive. And the ones that don’t, go extinct. Be it people or even ants, to bacterias.
Cooperation pays, even among rivals.

Things I wish I knew in my early 20s

1. Focus on becoming useful.

All this stuff about finding happiness and doing what you’re passionate about is a distraction.

Focus on building your value to the world

Sure, experiment with lots of stuff first, but gradually begin focusing on being great at less…

Happiness will spring out of your sense of contribution

2. Put money aside.

When it seems like you have all the time in the world, saving money seems pointless.

But you will thank your younger self for putting away some cash into savings – because that shit grows and accumulates fast.

Create that account, then make it impossible to take money out.

3. You don’t need ‘fixing.’

Ignore people who say you need to work on your issues.

There’s nothing wrong with you.

Thinking you have baggage and trauma keeps you in fear and limits you.

Instead, focus on creating experiences, making others happy, and building cool things.

4. Society wants you weak and depressed.

There is more wisdom in you than in the crowd.

The net result of tuning into what the masses want for you is depression and a one-way ticket to Loser Ville.

Follow what you know is right and ignore trends.

5. Don’t believe anything’ mainstream.’

Mainstream media is nothing more than entertainment designed to make you fearful so you depend on them for solutions.

The only advice I ever get is from happy people who are doing well.

Trends, the news, dietary advice, mainstream entertainment – all clueless.

6. Don’t become dependent on stimulants.

I always say that the less you need, the freer you are.

Stimulant addiction plays a major role in this, and will severely limit yourself, even seemingly inconsequential and ‘accepted’ forms of stimulation like porn, sugar, caffeine, nicotine, and video games.

Enjoy them occasionally if you need, but never get dependent.

7. Focus on making others happy.

We live in a narcissistic culture.

You must fight against this hubristic trend that will inevitably lead to its downfall.

You will win, regardless of the chaos, when you let go of yourself and focus on improving the lives of others.

8. Emotional control is your most important skill.

There’s no better way to ensure a terrible life when you struggle to manage your emotions.

You have work to do if you fly into a rage at a triggering.

This kind of thing can ruin your entire life.

Developing the habit of remaining calm is the most important skill you can nurture.

9. Start becoming exceptional at one thing.

While everyone else is running around trying hundreds of things and never getting good at any one thing, you’re different.

But don’t sacrifice becoming a master at any one thing in the process.

The world lacks focused expertise, whether in fixing cars, marketing, plumbing, writing, or sales.

This will get you far.

10. Trust no one, but be gracious.

Trusting no one doesn’t mean you’re a sociopath, it means you protect your time, energy and resources.

You needn’t grow bitter.

You can be pleasant and courteous, but you can never assume trust from anyone. That’s ok.

Humans aren’t perfect, but you must remain rational and careful at every step.

11. Stop stopping.

Few are capable of finishing what they start.

They get excited about some novelty, but the excitement soon wears off and they’re on to the next shiny thing.

Reps in anything will compound.

So you must find strength in staying with boredom.

Consistency is then inevitable, which lies at the heart of true success.

12. Don’t make decisions that could trap you for decades.

If there’s a chance you could make a very costly decision, avoid making it.

If you’re willing to deal with the worst possible outcome, then by all means, go for it.

But if you understand of what you’re getting into is even 5% hazy, steer clear.

13. Train your body.

Getting healthy shouldn’t be a habit you start in your thirties. It begins now.

Not only will your older body thank you for training and eating well, but you will spend your twenties feeling x4 better than everyone else.

You will gain a massive advantage over your hungover and anxious comrades.

14. Leave home.

If leaving your home town or country makes you nervous, that’s even more reason to do it.

Travel shaped my character like little else, and I’m so grateful for spending most of my twenties living overseas.

You aren’t free if you can’t stomach the idea of being geographically flexible, especially in this chaotic world.

I’ve collected adventures and friendships across the globe, and this serves me and the man I am today.

DISCIPLINE 101

Show up daily

Discipline is built through repetition.

Being consistent helps you build new habits which make it easier to stay focused on your goals.

Every day is a new day, you need to keep putting in the work

Design your environment for success

Make desirable behaviours easy and attractive, whilst making everything else more difficult.

It’s easier to go to the gym in the morning when you’ve laid out your gear the night before

Rely on habits (not motivation)

Motivation is a great energy boost that’ll help you at the beginning of your journey but it doesn’t last long.

But, habits make it easy to be consistent and stay disciplined—optimise for the long term

Use stepping stones (to reach your goals)

Big goals can be daunting and can feel impossible to achieve.

Instead, focus on setting short-term targets that’ll be easier to reach—seeing progress will motivate you to keep going towards your main goal

Make it rewarding

Staying disciplined isn’t easy.

It’s important to reward yourself and celebrate little wins along your journey.

If you don’t enjoy what you do, your discipline will eventually drop off

Build a support network

The easiest way to stay consistent with something is to have people counting on you or cheering for you.

The support of other people will motivate you to keep going, even when you feel like quitting

Narrow your focus

Don’t fall into the trap of spreading yourself too thin.

Keep things simple—you’ll have less to focus on which makes it easier to stay disciplined

Focus on yourself

Don’t compare your progress to other people—there are always going to be people behind you and people ahead.

Forget about them.

Worry about making yourself a little bit better than yesterday.

Use the 5-minute rule

If you have a simple task that takes under 5 minutes—do it right away.

Get the easy tasks off your list so you have time to focus on your more important work

Progress is better than the perfect plan

The time it takes to make a perfect plan is time you could use to make progress towards your goal.

You can’t plan for everything, so don’t try—take action and gather experience instead

Enjoy the moment

The present is the only time you have—enjoy it.

It’s hard to stay disciplined if you’re always worried about the future or stressing about things that have happened already.

Live in the moment

Be flexible

Life’s unpredictable—not everything will happen the way you want.

Be prepared for that fact.

Have backup plans and be prepared to change course quickly.

Discipline doesn’t mean sticking to a bad plan, you need the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances

Understand your weaknesses

Self-awareness is a powerful tool to build discipline.

When you know the areas you need to improve, you can actively work to get better.

Discipline is built when you tackle your weaknesses head-on, instead of avoiding them.

Focus on your circle of control

Worrying about things outside of your control causes unnecessary stress and anxiety that can hold you back.

Discipline means worrying about things you can impact, and forgetting about the rest

Things to teach your children

As a parent, you fear that you failed to prepare your kids for life on their own.

Preparing well for anything starts with covering some of the basics.

17 simple life kills your kids must have:

  1. How to do laundry:

Teach your kids how to wash and iron their own clothes.

It’s hard to succeed in life wearing dirty, smelly clothes

  1. How to save and spend:

Schools don’t teach financial literacy.

You’ve got to teach your kids how to handle money.

Simple things like organizing money.

10% put aside for giving.

10% for savings.

Small habit. Big, lifelong payoff

  1. How to introduce yourself:

Your kids will spend their lives making first impressions.

Make sure they know (and practice) the basics:

– Firm handshake

– Look the other person in the eye

– Speak their name clearly

– Repeat the other person’s name

– Finish with a pleasantry

  1. How to give a presentation:

Basic presentation skills are the foundation of a successful career.

Home is the perfect practice field.

Whether it’s verbal book reports or speeches about the merits of dessert,

Help your kids overcome the fear of speaking to a group.

  1. How to care for a vehicle:

At a minimum, kids need to know how to:

-Check oil.

– Change a tire

– Check and add tire pressure

– Interpret the car warning lights

  1. How to complete minor home repairs:

I was taught nothing about home repairs growing up.

Which cost me a flooded kitchen and other shameful things.

Most minor home repairs are shamefully simple.

Pick a few to tackle yourself.

And let your kids “help” while you do them

  1. How to plan a meal:

Fast food is expensive and unhealthy.

Teach your kids how to plan a meal from scratch, make a grocery list, and navigate the food market or supermarket

A simple way to teach this is to give each child one meal per month to plan.

Then turn it into a fun learning event

  1. How to resolve relational problems:

The happiness of our lives is deeply tied to the quality of our relationships.

But all relationships run into trouble.

It’s your job to teach your kids how to work through them.

First and foremost, teach them how to apologize and forgive

  1. How to make a complex decision:

Kids must launch into the world confident that they can make tough calls.

Do *you* have that confidence?

If not, start there.

If you do, let them in on your decision-making process.

Then help them apply it in their world

  1. How to cook:

Kitchens are intimidating places.

With a little effort, it can become a place your kids feel comfortable.

But it requires an invitation and some patience.

As you’re cooking, ask them to join in.

Work together, explain what you’re doing, and let them help

  1. How to push through pain:

My dream is to raise kids who are thick-skinned but soft-hearted.

Which is why I’m a huge advocate for team sports.

They force your kids to be uncomfortable.

If they can learn to keep going when things get tough,

They’ll become unstoppable

  1. How to say “no” and “not yet”:

Many adult problems arise from our inability to say “no.”

We’re overcommitted, exhausted, and in debt because of it.

Teaching your kids to delay gratification and say no when necessary is critical.

Teach them to embrace loving limits.

  1. How to small talk:

If I ran the world, there would be a “small talk” class taught in every school.

All relationships – business and personal – start with small talk.

Yet so few people feel comfortable striking up a conversation with a stranger.

Make sure your kids do.

         14. How to organize:

Kids don’t come into the world with complex systems for staying organized.

They’re wired for chaos and mess.

If you don’t correct it, you’re doing them a disservice.

Whether it’s their closet or notes from class,

Help your kids learn the power of tidiness

15.How to navigate transportation:

I have a friend who has a rule for his kids:

Once you hit 13, you’re in charge of logistics when we travel.

He teaches them:

– How an airport works

– How to call and use taxis

– How to catch a bus

By 16, they’re seasoned travelers

16. How to discern what’s good for them:

Years ago I wrote my definition of maturity:

Being able to see the difference between what’s good for you and what’s not,

And consistently choosing the good.

Not everything you desire is beneficial.

Help your kids learn to choose wisely

17. How to see the larger story:

I’m a believer in raising kids in a religious faith.

Yes, there are problems with it.

But it teaches them something incredibly powerful:

I’m part of a larger story. Everything is not about me.

HiIt will help them put things in their proper place

THINGS TO TEACH YOUR SON

THINGS TO TEACH YOUR SON…

1. How to clean and organize their space

A clean and organized man is focused.
A disorganized man is a turn off.

Teach them how to;
• Make their beds
• Clean their rooms
• Stay clean and neat

It’s attractive.

2. How to cook

A man who knows several recipes is attractive.
There’s also no reason they should marry young because they can’t cook

3. How to dance

Men dance, but not twerking on tiktok, Instagram and snapchat.
If you can’t, send them to a dance class.
The world has enough soy already.
Raise a strong son who can dance with his wife

4. How to talk to girls

You can’t teach him how to be a man.
But dealing with women is just as important as being a man.

He ought to know;

– When to talk
– What to say
– How to

You’ll give him an unfair advantage over his peers.

5. How to be kind but not overly kind

Men grow thinking they should be saviors.
Let him know when to be kind and to who.

6. How to talk when it matters

Teach your son the importance of dealing with their issues before expecting anyone to help them.

A “needy man” is despised.
As men, they should only tell enough but listen a lot

7. How to do laundry

To raise an all-round son, he needs the basics.
Most basic skills are boring but they’re vital.

8. How to be outgoing

Your son should be out of his room unless it’s bedtime.

The more he’s alone behind closed doors, the higher the chances he’s;

• Watching porn
• Jerking off to nude strangers online
• Arguing with strangers on socials

He’d rather be with friends

9. How to stand on his own

Your son is attached to your care and attention.
Make it clear it’s not forever.
He’ll have to stand on his own.
Life might be kinky but it’s fun

These things are rare nowadays. Raise your boy to be a man who can handle himself within the world around him

MASCULINITY

MASCULINITY.

Did you spend your childhood ‘closing school’ with some boys? Do you suffer from the urge to stare at women and whistle, make weird comments about their body shapes? Have you ever tried to show off your ‘guns and abs’? Then my friend you are suffering from a horrific disease called ‘maleness’. Don’t worry my disgusting friend, there is a cure. ‘Anti-Man’, proven to reduce testosterone and eradicate your masculinity within 30 days or your money back.

This is the message that a growing number of gender activists and corporations that wish to adopt a virtuous facade, most recently Gillette, would have us believe. Lakini, what’s the reality? Based on social norms that have been developed over generations and thousands of years, underpinned by biology and using empirical evidence I seek to rationalize masculinity and answer an important question. IS BEING MASCULINE BAD FOR SOCIETY? As my crazy friend says, fast of oho, what is masculinity?

It is entirely distinct from an individual’s biological sex. Its true masculine traits stem from a person’s biological sex, but if we’re getting technical then masculinity itself is a social construct that describes a set of traits innately present in most men. Yes I said most not all. Some traits can be found in women, however not always and often to lesser extremes. The traits also may differ from different cultures, but traits that define a masculine man are universally consistent. These traits are stoicism, resilience, courage, strength, independence and assertiveness.

Now before we judge men for being too assertive sometimes leading to violence or too stoic for not displaying emotions, we need to understand where this comes from. Men don’t become stoic just because we tell them ‘crying is for girls’ and ‘man up’. Masculinity might be enforced or enhanced by certain cultures through social pressures. But the fact is, masculine traits originate from our biology, constructed over a period of over 200,000 years since the beginning of homo sapiens. We are divided as animals in two sexes, not just for reproduction but also for other reasons. Look at the whole animal kingdom, male and female roles are well defined. Females have evolved to have behavioral and physiological traits that are conducive to the healthy development and loving nurture of their young. This simplifies logistics…

Empathy, patience, tenderness and emotional awareness those are the traits mothers have. Security and provision is left to the male species. This is where males developed a greater aptitude for physical strength and the natural courage to hunt and provide food for their tribe and women (Now you know why women like talk dark and muscular men). Men evolved to have aggressiveness, resilience and assertiveness, underpinned by undying competitiveness against rival males and protect their women and tribe from other scarier tribes with bigger, larger and pointier sticks. Now that was pre-civilization, we don’t need long, bigger and pointier sticks nowadays do we ladies? Eehhmm…

These are the traits most gender activists are looking to eradicate. Today it is more socially acceptable than ever before in the history of humanity for a man to show emotions and share his feelings with his friends, for a man to cry, for a man to choose another man as a sexual partner and marry him. All these are truly amazing and undeniably positive advances towards a better, more harmonic world and well I wouldn’t say any, but not all degrades a man’s masculinity. But these are not the traits these authoritarian leftist activists are trying to suppress. What is under fire is the more assertive, domineering and tough side that is biologically present in every man, to varying degree.

Let’s be honest, evil and malice is present in every gender. So let’s stop associating evilness with masculinity. It’s true more men get arrested more than women. But let’s be fair, if a man drugs a woman that case will be investigated and the man caught. IF a man is drugged by a woman, we say he learnt a lesson. If a man beats up a woman that’s a police case, if a woman beats up a man. You say, alijua hajui.. We have brought up men who can no longer stand for themselves. Because we taught them being masculine is bad for themselves. We have empowered women and clueless men. Lets stop judging all men for a few men’s mistakes. Let’s not take away the beautiful things masculine do, when a man takes his kids to school, that’s masculinity doing good, when a young man helps his mother that’s masculinity doing good, when terrorists attacks and our men in uniform come to the rescue, that’s masculinity doing good. Let’s not frustrate men from being masculine.

These men who help build and improve our society every day face other challenges at an alarming ratio. Men commit suicide three times more than women, men are more likely to be assaulted or robbed, 3.5 times more likely to be murdered, 96% of work fatalities happen to men, 5.6 times more likely to be incarcerated, 86% of homeless population is male, boys have been lagging behind girls in education the last 15 years and the gap is widening every year. We no longer push for competitiveness, we have taken the competitiveness from the boy child and now we are awarding kids for just participating. There are 5 times more girl schools than boys in every county.

Empowering the girl child is a good thing, but doing so by neglecting the boy child is building a bad society. Who will these girls date? Who will they marry? If you ask ladies they say its hard to find a good man. In other words they lack masculine men any more. We have encouraged men to be feminine and this taken the masculinity away from the boy child. Women have mothers to mentor and raise them. Who will raise the boy child? Who will raise the boy child? AS much as we want hide this under the rug, father-lessness is very bad for the boy child.

I myself and anyone else out there, do not wish to take away the ability to be feminine if you want to, I don’t have a problem with you being the person you want to be. But we all must work to protect the rights of everybody to choose who they want to be. Let everyone have a right to be who they want to be, lets not label men who want to be masculine as sexist male privilege by the media and tribal activists. So men, if you want to shout and enjoy your brown bottles during a game, have fun and enjoy your masculine self.

BASIC SKILLS AND EDUCATION

Well,  it’s another weekend and it’s been a while since i wrote something. Will try and keep this short. I was having a phone conversation with a friend who has very educated but zero skills employees.  What is happening to our education system? I have worked with learning institutions most of my short life in this planet and especially this country that I love called Kenya. Most principals in high schools will complain of having teachers who can’t teach.  Who do we blame for the lack of skills and challenges facing the work place?

We have more university campuses than we have training institutes and polytechnics. Our country has more white collar job lot jobless and no technical skilled jobless person. According to daily nation article by Ouma Wanzala dated June 8th 2017, this country has a challenge of engineers.  Kenya has only 2,100 certified engineers serving 45 million people against an expected minimum of 6,000. Also our beloved CS once said, Kenya faces shortage of artisans and other skilled labour – CS Matiang’i. Yet we have kids struggling to get to our universities.

Let’s have a look at what we have. What kind of graduates do companies get? A person with a tweng, they are busy trying to sound intelligent but wait till you ask them to write something down. You will be astounded with the kind of grammar you will be handling on your desk, the spellings and sentence construction will shock you. These are people who are afraid to think for themselves and wait to be thought for, anyone who has led a group even on whatsapp will attest to this. This is now forcing companies to spend more on in house training. Someone told me they are getting half-baked employees with fancy degrees.

You get a good resume and think this one is the perfect one. Masters with honors on their resume, then you give them a task, that’s when you and the person who buys a dress online have the same problem. It was only good on paper; your new employee has zero skills, no creativity or even the drive.  This is where now you have train them a fresh yet they spent years in school.  Unlucky you if you get the untrainable ones. The ones who went through private schools where they were coached on how to pass exams and how to steal and buy exams in their university life, but they were never taught how to think or be productive. So you are left with some employees who are just a decoration in your company just like the fancy wall lights you have in your office.

This is all because our parents celebrated degrees more than skills; we have been brought up from childhood believing that all you need is to graduate. Anyone who lives on Thika rd can surely tell how Kenyans celebrate graduations. The traffic is always a menace, try ordering an Uber the surge is continuous. Anyway it’s not about me and ranting about transportation. But seriously about that traffic… will be back to complain. Then we have lost all the good colleges by converting them to universities. Who thought that was a good idea? He should be shot, well at least on the leg. Because we are mass producing slaying men and women who are experts of taking selfies and Instagram updates than anything else. Universities no longer care about quality education with proper skills as long as the students ‘graduate’ and the institution makes money.  What a shame.

We have men who can’t do anything beyond changing tires yet they spent years in school, yes this again. I believe in good skills and if you ever want to test my skills feel welcome. We forget life is not aout papers but survival, and basic skills will make you survive. Schools nowadays teach students on how to pass exams instead coaching them how learn and pass them. Yes I have tried this and it works. In short, let’s go back to the basics and re-introduce competence and skills based education as opposed to exam/papers based “education”. That way, we won’t have to mourn that we have very few “As” and so many “Ds”.

As a parent teach your child the basic skills, as a teach coach your student on ways learn better and comprehend, remember and articulately express it on paper.  As a country let’s remember where the rain started to beat us. This way we will build a society with competent people and a good nation will emerge.

New big thing.

We have all heard of success stories of people who bought Bitcoin in the early days and later they made millions. Bitcoin has reached highs of over $7000+ (over 700k Ksh) for just one coin. Bitcoin or one of its competitors could very possibly be the next global currency of the world, in the future. Bitcoin is certainly an interesting new force in our world and whether it becomes it becomes a new global currency or it crashes into digital abyss, there is something even more interesting than bitcoin. This technology will unquestionably change the world beyond recognition.

I am talking about the very technology that makes bitcoin possible, BLOCKCHAIN.  Blockchain is so much bigger than bitcoin. Bitcoin is simply the very first adopter of a revolutionary technology, which is going to change our world. In the same way the wheel, the printing press and nduthi did.

The idea about blockchain was first described in 1991 by a group of researchers. But it wasn’t until a mysterious guy or a group of people; well no one knows for sure their identity. Under the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto used this idea in 2008 to create Bitcoin, and blockchain finally became a reality.

A blockchain is a ledger of financial accounts but digitized and decentralized. And this decentralization is from where its power and immense security is derived. Each block contains data based on whatever the blockchain is being used for. In the case of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, each block contains a list of transactions that have occurred including the person who sent the bitcoin, the recipient and the amount.

A single block is by no means secure, because the data can be easily tampered with. To vastly simplify things, a hacker could simply change the amount of a transaction to be more than it actually was to fraudulently extract more funds from the system. But when you have more than one block, they are linked together by a virtual chain. The subsequently linked block will always contain a unique finger print of the previous block. This is known as a HARSH.

If a single byte of data changes in the previous block, so does its unique fingerprint or harsh. And so the subsequent linked block is no longer valid. Also every single of a block down the chain is now invalid too. This could be many thousands of blocks and millions of transactions. This mechanism adds significant security to the whole system and makes it almost tamperproof, but not quite. Because modern computers, can easily change every single harsh along the entire blockchain within milliseconds, so then the entire chain would be fraudulent. But it would still show as valid.

So the bitcoin blockchain and all other modern block chains have something called a proof-of-work fail safe. Which means that any adjustment to a single block must be slowed down often taking ten minutes or more to accomplish, increasing the security. This is because hackers don’t like time throttling of any kind. Also every single data alteration must be backed up with a proof-of-work. It’s just like in school when you got a marking scheme then the teacher asked you to show your formula to the answer. This is how some of you had to take thorough beating because you couldn’t show your workings.

Lastly, what makes blockchain so immune to tampering, fraud and hacking is the fact that it is completely decentralized. No single person, organization or server, controls or dictates a blockchain network such as Bitcoin. Blockchain is collectively stored and replicated on mass on a peer to peer network. Similar to BitTorrent, but unlike BitTorrent which has a centralized tracker, no one centralized server or corporation tracks and controls who has what data on the blockchain. Instead everyone on the network, which could be thousands or even millions of people, has an exact replica of the same data file or blockchain. So its integrity can be verified. Everyone on the network has to have a record of the entire blockchain, all the way from its inception. Meaning everyone in the blockchain network such as bitcoin has a record of every single bitcoin transaction that has ever happened.

Hacking nowadays has been the norm of the day. Big corporations, banks and even social media is being hacked. If you think your data is safe, you’re terribly mistake. However if more companies that are responsible for maintaining large amounts of data, were to properly adopt the blockchain system to store their data in a global distributed and decentralized network. Chances of that data ever being hacked would be near impossible. And just because your data will be distributed in public to for everyone to see on the blockchain, it doesn’t mean that the world can actually view its content and see your Mombasa Pictures that you took with your clande and ben 10.

Data contained in the blockchain network can be and is often cryptographically encrypted. Thus the data can still be checked and verified by the world without ever being viewable. Except by its owner and those its owner selects to see.

Five Deliberate Reasons you are Still Broke

1. You are Just Lazy:

Let’s face it! Sometimes being broke is purely because of laziness. Yes there are some circumstances that may cause some people to be broke for no fault of their own, granted. But other times is just people deliberately deciding to be lazy. Too much TV, too much sleeping, too much Facebook and you want to make money. There are people who will just not do anything, they will not try… but somehow still expect money. These are the candidates for miracle money. Believe me, if you dedicate to work, and you keep working diligently everyday, in whatever your hands find to do you will find something that pays… It’s a law of work.. “he who does not work shall not eat…” Don’t look for money, look for work… And get me right, I didn’t say “look for a job” I said look for work.

2. You are too Superstitious: I will never understand how broke people are the most superstitious. Eeh. They are so averse to any money making opportunity and they look at every opportunity with an attitude, “what if I lose money?”… My friend, how much do you have to lose… Almost every opportunity your present to them, they are suspicious. And it is not possible to convince them… Especially if they have syndrome number one also… Laziness and superstition? Weapon of Mass destruction. They want risk free money making systems, which unfortunately do not exist… These are the kind of broke people who can write best seller books on “How not to Make Money”…, because thats all they see in every opportunity.

3. You think you Know Enough: Call a business seminar, even a free one, the broke will not come and they will be like “what can they teach us there?” Tag them a long business post, they comment, “didn’t finish reading, too long”.. They wont read books, even free ones. As far as they are concerned, they already know everything and depend on whatever little information they have in their head to make decision. They will engage in arguments & discussions and yet be so proudly arrogant in their ignorance and lack of logic. They find solace in their own empty heads… So even information about how to make money, they don’t listen because they think they have enough data already. They don’t understand, you only earn as much as you learn…

4. You Surround Yourself with Brokeness: Honestly, you stay in a broke neighbourhood, you have broke friends, you go to a broke church, and you have broke discussions… Who bewitched you? As I said, some circumstances are not your own making, yes, like where you stay… But having broke friends, going to broke places, having broke conversation? Those are your choices. You can choose today and say to yourself, “I may be broke, but I will no longer surround myself with broke circumstances”… Life is made in such a way that, through some induction and osmosis, you absorb whatever surrounds you and you soon start identifying with it. If you stay too long in a particular environment, you begin to internalise it and cannot describe yourself independent of your environment. Thats why you need to deliberately distrupt yourself from such environments by reducing how much time you spend surrounded by poverty for instance.

5. You are Financially Indisciplined: It’s funny how most broke people are the ones who don’t understand the power of financial discipline… The chap has been broke for a long time, and then they make a little money… Instead of thinking about how they can invest the money into tomorrow, they want to shine and prove they are not broke by living an extravagant life for the weekend. It’s funny how many broke people will be at the Chisa Nyama every weekend, trying to make a point to people who don’t know them, who don’t even care… And before the weekend ends, they are broke again. People who are not broke understand how to use money to make money… They don’t spend on unnecesary things just to show other broke people that they are not broke.

False Idols

In the bible, Exodus chapter 20 talks about the 10 commandments. The second one talks about false idols. An idol is anything or anyone who is regarded with admiration, adoration or devotion. Now each one of us has that person or thing they adore, admire Almighty? Think about it.

Do you have any false idols? A false idol doesn’t have to be a person. The first false idol was a calf made of gold, well it doesn’t sass me up, but who knows maybe it was a cute calf and the guy who made it had a miracle hand. Maybe false idols are anything that stops you from thinking about God, or anything that you admire or are devoted to it than your faith.

Take for example our gadgets, like phones. We rarely talk to anyone when we are with them. I admit, I also suffer from this problem. Our phones lead us astray most of the time. Some of us are in church but busy reading Kilimani Mums and Dads stories on a Sunday morning. We wake up to our phones before we say our prayers. We actual touch our phones before we touch our spouses. Some people sleep with their phones under their pillows. It is the last thing they check and the first thing they do in the morning.

Our phones have made pastors, bishops, and even politicians get in trouble. Don’t laugh at them, look at you. How many groups are you in on Facebook and WhatsApp? And most of them are not religion groups. Unlike my Paramedics group that we get our daily dose of the word of God and we never complain. Our brother, keep doing God’s work in that group. Heaven is waiting for you and maybe some of us

What if God asked you to give up your phone? You know he once asked Abraham to sacrifice his son; He actually sacrificed his own son about 2000 years ago. So it’s not crazy for me to think this, He can ask anything. So what would life be? You would need your watch, calculator, map, actual bible, dictionary, library, camera and many other things including a Walkman. I know some of you don’t even know what those are. Well those are some of the things your phone replaced including a calendar and a diary.

As much as we worship our tiny screen altars, we need them to run our day to day life. But don’t you be so much into your phone that you let life pass you by. Don’t lose your spouse or loved one over a piece of technology. And if God asks you to get rid of it, I will pray for you. Thank you for reading.
