Things boys need from their fathers.

No one impacts a boy like his dad.

When dad gives him what he needs, he develops an internal sense of worth.

If he doesn’t, the boy spends his life trying to prove his worth.

The best gifts from a father aren’t bicycles or phones.

8 gifts your son needs from you

Availability:

There’s an adage in sports that says, “The best ability is availability.”

The same is true for fathers.

Of all the things that damage the hearts of our sons,

Absence leads the way.

Sadly, most men are largely checked out.

And our sons are paying the price.

Availability starts with being physically there, but includes our emotional, spiritual, and relational presence as well.

It takes intentional work to put aside the pressures and pursuits of life.

But nothing communicates worth more to a boy than a father who shows up.

Delight:

C. S. Lewis said that “joy is the serious business of Heaven.”

I believe joy is also the serious business of fatherhood.

More than anything, our sons need our delight.

The father’s smile communicates a deep truth to the heart of a son – You are worth enjoying.

I wonder how many addictions in adult men started with not being enjoyed as a boy.

When you grow up feeling like a burden to bear or a problem to solve,

It leaves a hole men will try anything to fill.

As dads, we can stop that cycle before it starts.

Give your son your smile.

Approval:

I’m a child of the late 80s.

It was the birth of the self-esteem movement.

And many dads were not having it.

Out of fear that they would raise “soft” sons, they cut against the grain.

They were hard on their boys.

And raised a generation of men starved for approval

Every boy longs to hear two words from his dad:

“Well done!”

When he hears it early and often,

He’s not controlled by other people’s opinions because he’s received the approval of the man who matters most.

Withholding approval doesn’t make him stronger.

It makes him needy.

Physical Play:

Play is powerful.

A 2020 Cambridge study found that physical play with fathers had a significant impact on a child’s emotional development.

Physical play from 0-3 was tied to:

– Fewer instances of hyperactivity

– Less aggression with peers

– Emotion regulation

And it doesn’t have to end after 3.

My teenage sons still push me around and tackle me to the ground.

In the safety of a loving relationship,

Physical play creates a powerful bond between father and son.

The resulting emotional development is just icing on the cake

Allowance for Appropriate Immaturity:

A mentor once said to me,

“Never punish a child for being a child.”

It’s my job to turn my sons into responsible adults.

But I’ve been guilty of expecting too much of them, especially when they were young.

They need freedom to be kids

In your son you want to see appropriate immaturity.

If they’re taking care of the family as a 5 year old, that’s a bad thing.

If they’re 15 and can’t care for themselves, that’s also bad.

Fathers must strike the balance.

Teach them to be men while allowing them to be kids

In-Couragement:

I know I spelled it wrong.

But the word “encouragement” falls short.

Courage doesn’t grow naturally.

It must be spoken into existence.

It is a quality that must be planted into the core of a boy’s being by a man he trusts. In-couraging your son is more than cheering for him or saying “you can do it.”

It’s a sincere expression of belief.

It must be spoken.

It must be repeated.

It must be genuine.

Our world is plagued by men who lack true courage.

Don’t let your son be one of them

Humility:

I’m fascinated by water.

It’s necessary for life to exist.

But, when uncontrolled, it is the most destructive force on the planet.

Pride is the same way.

It’s important to have a certain sense of pride in yourself and your work.

But too much of it tears things apart

When I speak to groups of fathers, I encourage them to “take the lowest seat.”

It’s a phrase borrowed from the medieval pecking order around a banquet table.

It’s a reminder that genuine strength is displayed in self-sacrifice.

As a father, show your sons how to put pride aside

Boundaries:

Nurturing a boy’s heart doesn’t mean anything goes.

One of my sons leaves for college in a week.

He needs to know how the world works.

He won’t live an unlimited life where he gets to do whatever he wants.

Our lives are full of limitations.

And that’s good

As my boys have become young men, they’ve tested the boundaries.

They’ve pushed against me and sought to assert themselves.

I let them. To a point.

There are lines they still can’t cross.

A gentle, firm hand from a loving father creates a boy who knows how to navigate life

I know our sons need more from us than these 8 things.

But I also know that, as fathers, if we give them:

– Availability

– Delight

– Approval

– Physical play

– Appropriate immaturity

– In-couragement

– Humility

– Boundaries

We’ve given our sons gifts they’ll carry for life.

Maturity is when…

You are mature…. If you….

You understand life is better when nobody knows anything about you

You let people win arguments to preserve your energy. You know how to pick your battles

You don’t need to be liked by everyone. Deep and narrow is better than wide and shallow

You are responsible for your own happiness. Not your kids, partner, or material possessions

You don’t have an opinion on everything because you don’t know everything (it’s not an excuse to be basic. Know most things)

You understand most people are not bad. They’re acting out of fear and anxiety

You learn from the past, plan for the future, and live in the present

You know you aren’t responsible for other peoples expectations of you

You know other people can’t read your mind, so you get better at communicating ideas

You don’t need approval from others, only yourself

You know the more you chase happiness, the more it runs away. You don’t chase, you attract

You stop listening to what people say and watch what they do

You know most people don’t actually want to change. They want to be heard and accepted because change is uncomfortable

You know you don’t need to react to everything because not everything deserves your attention

You know the world reflects your own feelings back at you

You acknowledge your emotions and know they are temporary

12 LESSONS IN LIFE 1

Stay Away from Anger, it hurts only you!
It doesn’t solve anything.
It builds nothing, but it can destroy everything. 2

If you are right then there is no need to get angry, and if you are wrong then you don’t have any right to get angry. 3

Patience with family is love, Patience with others is respect, Patience with self is confidence and Patience with God is faith. 4

Never think hard about the PAST, it brings tears….
Don’t think about the FUTURE, it brings fear….
Live this moment with a smile, it brings cheers. 5

Every test in our life makes us bitter or better. Every problem comes to make us or break us. The choice is ours whether we become victims or victors. 6

Do you know why God created gaps between fingers?
So that someone who is special to you comes and fills those gaps by holding your hand till God’s appointed time. 7

God has sent us all in pairs, someone somewhere is made for you. So wait for the right time and right moment. 8

A satisfied life is better than a successful life because our success is measured by others. But our satisfaction is measured by our own soul, mind & heart. 9

Life is like a notebook.
Two pages are already written by God.
First page is birth. Last page is Death. Center pages are empty. So, fill them with SMILE & LOVE. 10

Life is beautiful.
One day, one hour and one minute spent, will not come again in your entire life. Avoid fights, anger and speak lovely to every person. 11

Nothing is permanent.
Don’t stress yourself too much because no matter how bad the situation is, it will change. 12

Life is an echo.
What you send out, comes back.
What you sow, you reap.
What you give, you get.
What you see in others, exists in you.
Don’t judge – so you will not be judged. Radiate and give love and love will come back to you.

Positive and Negative Emotions

You ignore almost everything except things that move you forward and things that act as obstacles. Your dopaminergic system alerts you to situations that help you move forward. The negative emotions are generated (either through a small detour or catastrophic end).

Positive events have short-term and long-term benefits. Passing an exam allows positive emotions to echo across multiple levels of analysis. It makes you feel good about yourself, your goals, and life.

Negative events have short term and long-term repercussions. A sheltered, naïve person who encounters malevolence will very likely descend into complete chaos that they might not recover from. They will sink into depression and anxiety. On a neurological level, their hippocampus shrinks, and amygdala grows.

When goals are blocked – it leads you to question everything about your belief system. You cease to know where you are, and when you don’t know where you are – everything suddenly becomes relevant. Your brain deteriorates from too much stress.

The question becomes: How big is the obstacle? And you assess the size of the threat the same way your ancestors assessed the size of their predators. It works the same way. It couldn’t be any different. Evolution is a conservative system and so your threat response builds upon the previous systems.

Information

We conceptualize predators as “the unknown”, but we have come to learn that it could be beneficial to confront the unknown. The predators were threats, but they then became food. That defines the archetypical story of mankind. We go out into the terrifying unknown as information foragers and gather things of value. The system could have also developed from our fruit eating activities that required us to identify ripe fruit. In a sense, there isn’t much of a difference between information and food. We are always looking for ways to produce more of what we need.

Anomalous information usually has two sides. If you were in a bad relationship, a fight can represent a chance for reconciliation and resolution, or it might signify the end of the relationship (which you don’t want). Both the reward (goal-seeking) and threat (predatory) systems are activated. A good rule of thumb is to assume that the fight is a short-term problem that can be resolved, until there is good reason to assume that it is a long-term problem – in which case, it would be advisable to end the relationship.

There are few limits to your ability to turn pain into pleasure. For example, you train yourselves to enjoy coffee and olives – which are originally bitter. But with enough practice, we can learn to enjoy them.

Depression

When happens to depressed people is that they misinterpret their mistakes. If you had to prepare a meal, for example, your first step is to set the table.

What depressed people do after making a mistake, for example, setting the table badly is misinterpret that to mean that they cannot cook a meal. That leads them to believe that they can’t take care of their family, and finally that they are failures. Their serotonin levels fall, and it makes every little thing seem like a catastrophe. They don’t have proper mechanisms for dealing with failures. They radically overestimate the competence of everyone else and underestimate their own competence.

Forgive

Forgive!

MARK 11:25-26 NKJ
25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything
against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may
also forgive you your trespasses.
26 “But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in
heaven forgive your trespasses.”

You must forgive others. No matter what they have done. It is
the command of God. But it was given for our benefit.

To not forgive hurts you. Refusing to forgive is like
swallowing poison daily. It will destroy you.

Jesus said we should forgive when we stand praying. So we don’t
have to wait until people apologize. Nor does forgiveness
require a long time.

Forgiveness is not a feeling. It is a decision to quit holding
something against someone. When we forgive people we must
release them and forget it.

You may think it is impossible to forgive someone who has
deeply wronged you. With God it is possible. He never asks us
to do something we cannot do.

LUKE 6:35-38 NKJ
35 “But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for
nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will
be sons of the Highest. For He is kind to the unthankful and
evil.
36 “Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is
merciful.
37 “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and
you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed
down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your
bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be
measured back to you.”

Whatever we measure out is what will be measured back to us. If
we want others — including God — to show mercy to us and
forgive us — we must forgive and be merciful to others.

It is not enough to forgive only those people who have wronged
us a little. We must forgive everyone!

MATTHEW 18:21-22 NKJ
21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my
brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times,
but up to seventy times seven.

Surely Jesus was not setting a maximum limit on the number of
times we should forgive. He gave an absurdly high number so we
would realize He meant for us to forgive without limit — just
as He forgives us.

LUKE 23:33-34 NKJ
33 And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there
they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand
and the other on the left.
34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know
what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Jesus set a perfect example of forgiveness for us when He
forgave those who mocked Him and crucified Him. But this kind
of forgiveness is certainly beyond normal human ability or
experience. It takes the power of God to do it. When we are
born again we have access to that power through the love of God
inside us.

EPHESIANS 4:32 NKJ
32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.

We are commanded to forgive others in the same way God has
forgiven us! Having God’s help is necessary to do that.

COLOSSIANS 3:13 NKJ
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if
anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave
you, so you also must do.

It is not optional. If we desire God’s blessing and fellowship
— we must forgive others as He forgave us.

SAY THIS: With God’s help, I will forgive.

MASCULINITY

MASCULINITY.

Did you spend your childhood ‘closing school’ with some boys? Do you suffer from the urge to stare at women and whistle, make weird comments about their body shapes? Have you ever tried to show off your ‘guns and abs’? Then my friend you are suffering from a horrific disease called ‘maleness’. Don’t worry my disgusting friend, there is a cure. ‘Anti-Man’, proven to reduce testosterone and eradicate your masculinity within 30 days or your money back.

This is the message that a growing number of gender activists and corporations that wish to adopt a virtuous facade, most recently Gillette, would have us believe. Lakini, what’s the reality? Based on social norms that have been developed over generations and thousands of years, underpinned by biology and using empirical evidence I seek to rationalize masculinity and answer an important question. IS BEING MASCULINE BAD FOR SOCIETY? As my crazy friend says, fast of oho, what is masculinity?

It is entirely distinct from an individual’s biological sex. Its true masculine traits stem from a person’s biological sex, but if we’re getting technical then masculinity itself is a social construct that describes a set of traits innately present in most men. Yes I said most not all. Some traits can be found in women, however not always and often to lesser extremes. The traits also may differ from different cultures, but traits that define a masculine man are universally consistent. These traits are stoicism, resilience, courage, strength, independence and assertiveness.

Now before we judge men for being too assertive sometimes leading to violence or too stoic for not displaying emotions, we need to understand where this comes from. Men don’t become stoic just because we tell them ‘crying is for girls’ and ‘man up’. Masculinity might be enforced or enhanced by certain cultures through social pressures. But the fact is, masculine traits originate from our biology, constructed over a period of over 200,000 years since the beginning of homo sapiens. We are divided as animals in two sexes, not just for reproduction but also for other reasons. Look at the whole animal kingdom, male and female roles are well defined. Females have evolved to have behavioral and physiological traits that are conducive to the healthy development and loving nurture of their young. This simplifies logistics…

Empathy, patience, tenderness and emotional awareness those are the traits mothers have. Security and provision is left to the male species. This is where males developed a greater aptitude for physical strength and the natural courage to hunt and provide food for their tribe and women (Now you know why women like talk dark and muscular men). Men evolved to have aggressiveness, resilience and assertiveness, underpinned by undying competitiveness against rival males and protect their women and tribe from other scarier tribes with bigger, larger and pointier sticks. Now that was pre-civilization, we don’t need long, bigger and pointier sticks nowadays do we ladies? Eehhmm…

These are the traits most gender activists are looking to eradicate. Today it is more socially acceptable than ever before in the history of humanity for a man to show emotions and share his feelings with his friends, for a man to cry, for a man to choose another man as a sexual partner and marry him. All these are truly amazing and undeniably positive advances towards a better, more harmonic world and well I wouldn’t say any, but not all degrades a man’s masculinity. But these are not the traits these authoritarian leftist activists are trying to suppress. What is under fire is the more assertive, domineering and tough side that is biologically present in every man, to varying degree.

Let’s be honest, evil and malice is present in every gender. So let’s stop associating evilness with masculinity. It’s true more men get arrested more than women. But let’s be fair, if a man drugs a woman that case will be investigated and the man caught. IF a man is drugged by a woman, we say he learnt a lesson. If a man beats up a woman that’s a police case, if a woman beats up a man. You say, alijua hajui.. We have brought up men who can no longer stand for themselves. Because we taught them being masculine is bad for themselves. We have empowered women and clueless men. Lets stop judging all men for a few men’s mistakes. Let’s not take away the beautiful things masculine do, when a man takes his kids to school, that’s masculinity doing good, when a young man helps his mother that’s masculinity doing good, when terrorists attacks and our men in uniform come to the rescue, that’s masculinity doing good. Let’s not frustrate men from being masculine.

These men who help build and improve our society every day face other challenges at an alarming ratio. Men commit suicide three times more than women, men are more likely to be assaulted or robbed, 3.5 times more likely to be murdered, 96% of work fatalities happen to men, 5.6 times more likely to be incarcerated, 86% of homeless population is male, boys have been lagging behind girls in education the last 15 years and the gap is widening every year. We no longer push for competitiveness, we have taken the competitiveness from the boy child and now we are awarding kids for just participating. There are 5 times more girl schools than boys in every county.

Empowering the girl child is a good thing, but doing so by neglecting the boy child is building a bad society. Who will these girls date? Who will they marry? If you ask ladies they say its hard to find a good man. In other words they lack masculine men any more. We have encouraged men to be feminine and this taken the masculinity away from the boy child. Women have mothers to mentor and raise them. Who will raise the boy child? Who will raise the boy child? AS much as we want hide this under the rug, father-lessness is very bad for the boy child.

I myself and anyone else out there, do not wish to take away the ability to be feminine if you want to, I don’t have a problem with you being the person you want to be. But we all must work to protect the rights of everybody to choose who they want to be. Let everyone have a right to be who they want to be, lets not label men who want to be masculine as sexist male privilege by the media and tribal activists. So men, if you want to shout and enjoy your brown bottles during a game, have fun and enjoy your masculine self.

BASIC SKILLS AND EDUCATION

Well,  it’s another weekend and it’s been a while since i wrote something. Will try and keep this short. I was having a phone conversation with a friend who has very educated but zero skills employees.  What is happening to our education system? I have worked with learning institutions most of my short life in this planet and especially this country that I love called Kenya. Most principals in high schools will complain of having teachers who can’t teach.  Who do we blame for the lack of skills and challenges facing the work place?

We have more university campuses than we have training institutes and polytechnics. Our country has more white collar job lot jobless and no technical skilled jobless person. According to daily nation article by Ouma Wanzala dated June 8th 2017, this country has a challenge of engineers.  Kenya has only 2,100 certified engineers serving 45 million people against an expected minimum of 6,000. Also our beloved CS once said, Kenya faces shortage of artisans and other skilled labour – CS Matiang’i. Yet we have kids struggling to get to our universities.

Let’s have a look at what we have. What kind of graduates do companies get? A person with a tweng, they are busy trying to sound intelligent but wait till you ask them to write something down. You will be astounded with the kind of grammar you will be handling on your desk, the spellings and sentence construction will shock you. These are people who are afraid to think for themselves and wait to be thought for, anyone who has led a group even on whatsapp will attest to this. This is now forcing companies to spend more on in house training. Someone told me they are getting half-baked employees with fancy degrees.

You get a good resume and think this one is the perfect one. Masters with honors on their resume, then you give them a task, that’s when you and the person who buys a dress online have the same problem. It was only good on paper; your new employee has zero skills, no creativity or even the drive.  This is where now you have train them a fresh yet they spent years in school.  Unlucky you if you get the untrainable ones. The ones who went through private schools where they were coached on how to pass exams and how to steal and buy exams in their university life, but they were never taught how to think or be productive. So you are left with some employees who are just a decoration in your company just like the fancy wall lights you have in your office.

This is all because our parents celebrated degrees more than skills; we have been brought up from childhood believing that all you need is to graduate. Anyone who lives on Thika rd can surely tell how Kenyans celebrate graduations. The traffic is always a menace, try ordering an Uber the surge is continuous. Anyway it’s not about me and ranting about transportation. But seriously about that traffic… will be back to complain. Then we have lost all the good colleges by converting them to universities. Who thought that was a good idea? He should be shot, well at least on the leg. Because we are mass producing slaying men and women who are experts of taking selfies and Instagram updates than anything else. Universities no longer care about quality education with proper skills as long as the students ‘graduate’ and the institution makes money.  What a shame.

We have men who can’t do anything beyond changing tires yet they spent years in school, yes this again. I believe in good skills and if you ever want to test my skills feel welcome. We forget life is not aout papers but survival, and basic skills will make you survive. Schools nowadays teach students on how to pass exams instead coaching them how learn and pass them. Yes I have tried this and it works. In short, let’s go back to the basics and re-introduce competence and skills based education as opposed to exam/papers based “education”. That way, we won’t have to mourn that we have very few “As” and so many “Ds”.

As a parent teach your child the basic skills, as a teach coach your student on ways learn better and comprehend, remember and articulately express it on paper.  As a country let’s remember where the rain started to beat us. This way we will build a society with competent people and a good nation will emerge.

This is what i found on the Internet…

The Unofficial Goldman Sachs guide to being a man:

Stop talking about where you went to college.

Always carry cash. Keep some in your front pocket.

Rebel from business casual. Burn your khakis and wear a suit or jeans.

It’s ok to trade the possibility of your 80s and 90s for more guaranteed fun in your 20s and 30s.

Never stay out after midnight three nights in a row… Unless something really good comes up on the third night.

You will regret your tattoos.

Never date an ex of your friend.

If riding the bus doesn’t incentivise you to improve your station in life, nothing will.

Time is too short to do your own laundry.

When the bartender asks, you should already know what you want to drink.

If you perspire, wear a damn vest.

Hookers aren’t cool, but remember, the free ones are a lot more expensive.

When people don’t invite you to a party, you really shouldn’t go.
And sometimes even when you are invited, you shouldn’t go.

People are tired of you being the funny, drunk guy.

When in doubt, always kiss the girl.

Tip more than you should.

You probably use your mobile phone too often and at the wrong moments.

Buy expensive sunglasses. Superficial? Yes, but so are the women judging you. And it tells these women you appreciate nice things and are responsible enough not to lose them.

Do 50 push-ups, sit-ups, and dips before you shower each morning.

Eat brunch with friends at least every other weekend. Leave Rusty and Junior at home.
Be a regular at more than one bar.
Act like you’ve been there before. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the end zone at the Super Bowl or on a private plane.
A glass of wine or two with lunch will not ruin your day.
Learn how to fly-fish.
No selfies. Aspire to experience photo-worthy moments in the company of a beautiful woman.
Own a handcrafted shotgun. It’s a beautiful thing.
There’s always another level. Just be content knowing that you are still better off than most who have ever lived.
You can get away with a lot more if you’re the one buying the drinks.
Ask for a salad instead of fries.
Don’t split a check.
Pretty women who are unaccompanied want you to talk to them.
When a bartender buys you a round, tip double.
Be spontaneous.
Find a Times New Roman in the streets and a Wingdings in the sheets. She exists.
Piercings are liabilities in fights.
Do not use an electric razor.
Desserts are for women. Order one and pretend you don’t mind that she’s eating yours.
Buy a tuxedo before you are 30. Stay that size.
One girlfriend at a time is probably enough.

Your ties should be rolled and placed in a sectioned tie drawer.
Throw parties.
But have someone else clean up the next day.
Measure yourself only against your previous self.
Take more pictures. With a camera.
Place-dropping is worse than-name dropping.
Your clothes do not match. They go together.
Yes, of course you have to buy her dinner.
Staying angry is a waste of energy.
If she expects the person you are 20% of the time, 100% of the time, then she doesn’t want you.
Always bring a bottle of something to the party.
Don’t use the word “closure” or ever expect it in real life.
If you are wittier than you are handsome, avoid loud clubs.
Date women outside your social set. You’ll be surprised.
If it’s got velvet ropes and lines, walk away unless you know someone.
You cannot have a love affair with whiskey because whiskey will never love you back.
If you believe in evolution, you should know something about how it works.
No-one cares if you are offended, so stop it.
Never take an ex back. She tried to do better and is settling with you.
Eating out alone can be magnificent. Find a place where you can sit at the bar.
Read more. It allows you to borrow someone else’s brain, and will make you more interesting at a dinner party — provided that you don’t initiate conversation with, “So, who are you reading…”
Ignore the boos. They usually come from the cheap seats.
Don’t ever say, “it is what it is.”
Don’t gamble if losing $US100 is going to piss you off.
Remember, “rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men

We have all heard of success stories of people who bought Bitcoin in the early days and later they made millions. Bitcoin has reached highs of over $7000+ (over 700k Ksh) for just one coin. Bitcoin or one of its competitors could very possibly be the next global currency of the world, in the future. Bitcoin is certainly an interesting new force in our world and whether it becomes it becomes a new global currency or it crashes into digital abyss, there is something even more interesting than bitcoin. This technology will unquestionably change the world beyond recognition.

I am talking about the very technology that makes bitcoin possible, BLOCKCHAIN.  Blockchain is so much bigger than bitcoin. Bitcoin is simply the very first adopter of a revolutionary technology, which is going to change our world. In the same way the wheel, the printing press and nduthi did.

The idea about blockchain was first described in 1991 by a group of researchers. But it wasn’t until a mysterious guy or a group of people; well no one knows for sure their identity. Under the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto used this idea in 2008 to create Bitcoin, and blockchain finally became a reality.

A blockchain is a ledger of financial accounts but digitized and decentralized. And this decentralization is from where its power and immense security is derived. Each block contains data based on whatever the blockchain is being used for. In the case of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, each block contains a list of transactions that have occurred including the person who sent the bitcoin, the recipient and the amount.

A single block is by no means secure, because the data can be easily tampered with. To vastly simplify things, a hacker could simply change the amount of a transaction to be more than it actually was to fraudulently extract more funds from the system. But when you have more than one block, they are linked together by a virtual chain. The subsequently linked block will always contain a unique finger print of the previous block. This is known as a HARSH.

If a single byte of data changes in the previous block, so does its unique fingerprint or harsh. And so the subsequent linked block is no longer valid. Also every single of a block down the chain is now invalid too. This could be many thousands of blocks and millions of transactions. This mechanism adds significant security to the whole system and makes it almost tamperproof, but not quite. Because modern computers, can easily change every single harsh along the entire blockchain within milliseconds, so then the entire chain would be fraudulent. But it would still show as valid.

So the bitcoin blockchain and all other modern block chains have something called a proof-of-work fail safe. Which means that any adjustment to a single block must be slowed down often taking ten minutes or more to accomplish, increasing the security. This is because hackers don’t like time throttling of any kind. Also every single data alteration must be backed up with a proof-of-work. It’s just like in school when you got a marking scheme then the teacher asked you to show your formula to the answer. This is how some of you had to take thorough beating because you couldn’t show your workings.

Lastly, what makes blockchain so immune to tampering, fraud and hacking is the fact that it is completely decentralized. No single person, organization or server, controls or dictates a blockchain network such as Bitcoin. Blockchain is collectively stored and replicated on mass on a peer to peer network. Similar to BitTorrent, but unlike BitTorrent which has a centralized tracker, no one centralized server or corporation tracks and controls who has what data on the blockchain. Instead everyone on the network, which could be thousands or even millions of people, has an exact replica of the same data file or blockchain. So its integrity can be verified. Everyone on the network has to have a record of the entire blockchain, all the way from its inception. Meaning everyone in the blockchain network such as bitcoin has a record of every single bitcoin transaction that has ever happened.

Hacking nowadays has been the norm of the day. Big corporations, banks and even social media is being hacked. If you think your data is safe, you’re terribly mistake. However if more companies that are responsible for maintaining large amounts of data, were to properly adopt the blockchain system to store their data in a global distributed and decentralized network. Chances of that data ever being hacked would be near impossible. And just because your data will be distributed in public to for everyone to see on the blockchain, it doesn’t mean that the world can actually view its content and see your Mombasa Pictures that you took with your clande and ben 10.

Data contained in the blockchain network can be and is often cryptographically encrypted. Thus the data can still be checked and verified by the world without ever being viewable. Except by its owner and those its owner selects to see.

The potential uses of blockchain technology are far and wide. And this is why, Blockchain technology is the new wheel of the 21st century. Watch this space.
